Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed responsibility Sunday for a drone attack on an oil facility in Saudi Arabia's Red Sea region, while Saudi authorities confirmed that a fire at an Aramco refinery in Jizan had been extinguished.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group had "succeeded in targeting the Aramco refinery in Jizan with a drone, and the strike was precise."

He said the attack was launched in response to what he described as Saudi incursions into territory in northwestern Yemen.

Saudi Arabia's Energy Ministry later confirmed that a fire broke out at one of the facilities belonging to the Aramco refinery in Jizan early Sunday.

The ministry did not provide a cause for the fire.

Saudi ministry says no injuries

In a statement posted on X, the Saudi Energy Ministry said Aramco's industrial security teams brought the fire under control and extinguished it.

The ministry said no one was injured in the incident.

It added that relevant authorities were continuing to complete the necessary procedures related to the incident, without providing further details.

Regional sources had earlier claimed that Saudi Aramco facilities in Jizan had been targeted.

Explosion reported in Jubail

Separately, Arab regional sources reported that a loud explosion was heard in Saudi Arabia's eastern Jubail region.

Some reports said gas facilities in Jubail Industrial City had been targeted and that a fire broke out at the site.

The reports did not provide details on the nature of the incident or possible casualties.

It was not immediately clear whether the fire in Jizan was connected to the reported explosion and fire in Jubail.
