Iran's Foreign Ministry said Wednesday that U.S. military strikes on monitoring and surveillance centers along Iran's southern coast violated the United Nations Charter and the memorandum of understanding (MoU) to end the war.

In a statement, the ministry said the U.S. military carried out attacks in the early hours of Wednesday against several monitoring and surveillance centers on Iran's southern coast.

The ministry described the strikes as a clear violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the U.N. Charter and said they also violated the first clause of the MoU to end the war, which calls for a halt to military operations.

Tehran says key parts of memorandum affected

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said repeated attacks against Iran, along with the U.S. Treasury's decision to revoke the license for Iranian oil sales, had undermined key parts of the war-ending memorandum.

The ministry said Washington had committed under Clause 10 of the memorandum to the oil sales license.

It also cited what it called violations of Iranian arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz and continued military attacks and "terrorist actions" by Israel against Lebanon.

The ministry said these actions had rendered essential parts of the memorandum ineffective.

It said responsibility for what it called the dangerous consequences of the escalation lies with the U.S.

Iran warns regional countries against cooperation

The ministry also reminded all states, especially neighboring countries on the southern shore of the Persian Gulf, of what it said is their international legal obligation to prevent their territory and facilities from being used by aggressor parties against Iran.

It said any cooperation in what it described as the crime of aggression against Iran would amount to complicity and participation in that crime.

The ministry strongly condemned what it called repeated U.S. attacks and breaches of commitments.

It also referred to the responsibilities of the U.N. Security Council and the U.N. secretary general for regional and international peace and security.

The ministry said Iran's armed forces, as they have shown repeatedly, would not hesitate to defend the country's territorial integrity, national sovereignty and national security against U.S. military aggression under Article 51 of the U.N. Charter.

It added that Iran would target the source and origin of aggression.
