Iran's Revolutionary Guards said on Tuesday they targeted a U.S. base in Iraq's Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) as the war with the United States and Israel continues.

"The headquarters of the invading US army in Al-Harir Air Base in the Kurdish region was targeted with five missiles," the Guards said in a statement on their Telegram channel.

Meanwhile, Iraq’s Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) said late Monday that three drones were shot down in Erbil, following reports of explosions.

KRG said in a statement that debris from one of the drones fell near the consulate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the city.

The UAE's Foreign Ministry condemned the drone attack on its consulate.

Separately, the Erbil Water and Sewerage Directorate said in a statement that the building affected by the falling debris is located near Erbil International Airport. It said explosions occurred as air defense systems intercepted the drones.

The blasts damaged two staff vehicles and the roofs of two rooms in the administrative building, according to the statement.

“As a result, we will temporarily relocate our employees to another location,” the directorate said.

Erbil has experienced frequent explosions and air defense activity since Iran began retaliatory attacks following US and Israeli strikes, which began late last month.

Regional escalation has flared up since Israel and the U.S. launched a joint attack on Iran on Feb. 28, which has so far killed around 1,300 people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and injured over 10,000 others, according to Iranian authorities.

Iran has retaliated with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf countries that are home to U.S. military assets.
