An Iranian military spokesman issued a taunting message directed at U.S. President Donald Trump as the deadline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz draws near.

Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al Anbiya central headquarters, delivered the message in a video clip.

“Hey Trump, YOU’RE FIRED! You’re familiar with this sentence. Thank you for your attention to this matter,” Zolfaghari said.

Remarks come amid rising tensions

Zolfaghari’s comments came as tensions escalate between Iran and the United States over the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has vowed to launch retaliatory strikes if the United States follows through on its threat to target Iran’s energy infrastructure should the waterway remain blocked.

The remarks were issued as the deadline set by Washington for reopening the strait approaches.

Broader statement warns adversaries

In a longer statement, Zolfaghari described U.S. forces as fearful, saying adversaries “feel fear in every cell of their bodies” and attempt to flee before strikes are carried out.

He also accused opponents of using people in the region as human shields and referred to them as “masters of repeated defeats.”

“This is the fate of any enemy who casts an ill eye on the security of our people,” he said.

The statement was issued by Iran’s Khatam al Anbiya central headquarters amid ongoing tensions in the region.
