An Iranian missile attack on Israel wounded six people in central Israel on Sunday, while the Israeli military said two soldiers were killed during combat in southern Lebanon, according to emergency services and military statements.
First responders said six people were injured, some by shrapnel, at blast sites in central Israel after the Israeli military detected a new wave of missiles launched from Iran.
A spokesperson for Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency services said, "medics and paramedics are providing medical treatment and evacuating" the wounded to hospitals.
A 40-year-old man was in serious condition, while a 25-year-old man was moderately injured, and three others suffered mild injuries, according to Magen David Adom.
A spokesperson for Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv stated that a man wounded in the neck was receiving urgent treatment.
At least 10 explosions were heard over Tel Aviv, according to journalists from Agence France-Presse (AFP), while Israeli media showed images of what they described as a blast hole in a street with a damaged car protruding from it.
The Israeli military said earlier it had "identified missiles launched from Iran towards the territory of the State of Israel."
Separately, the Israeli military announced that two Israeli soldiers were killed in combat in southern Lebanon early Sunday during an incident involving engineering forces.
The military identified one of the soldiers as Master Sergeant Maher Khatar, 38, from Majdal Shams, who served in the Combat Engineering Corps in the 91st Division, according to a military statement.
A second soldier was also killed in the same incident, but his name has not yet been cleared for publication, the military said.
According to a preliminary Israeli army probe, the incident began when a Puma armored personnel carrier became stuck during operations near an army post in southern Lebanon close to the Israeli border community of Manara.
The army dispatched another Puma armored vehicle and two D9 armored bulldozers to assist in recovering the disabled vehicle.
One of the bulldozers was then struck by a projectile, possibly an anti-tank missile or a mortar, causing a blaze that killed the two troops, according to the probe.
A combat officer was also lightly wounded in the incident and evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment, the military said, adding that his family had been notified.
Military sources said the incident was the fourth anti-tank missile launch against Israeli forces in recent days.
Israel has expanded its military campaign in Lebanon since Monday, following limited rocket fire by Hezbollah amid broader regional tensions linked to the war launched by Israel and the U.S. against Iran.
According to Lebanese authorities, at least 394 people have been killed and 1,130 others injured in Israeli attacks since Monday.
Israel has killed over 4,000 people and wounded 17,000 during an offensive in Lebanon that began in October 2023 and escalated into a full-scale war in September 2024.
Despite a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah since November 2024, Israel has continued near-daily violations that have left hundreds dead and wounded.
