Iran will not declare a ceasefire or enter negotiations with the United States and Israel, according to a senior Iranian official, as tensions continue to mount following military strikes launched in late February.
Speaking in Tehran after Friday prayers, Ibrahim Azizi, head of the National Security Commission of Iran’s parliament, stated that the country would not halt hostilities under any circumstances.
Azizi made the remarks during demonstrations held after the Friday prayer gathering at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla Mosque in Tehran, where crowds protested against the United States and Israel.
Addressing the gathering, Azizi said all Iranian officials should follow the path of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and remain closely connected with the public. He added that the country would not accept negotiations or a ceasefire under any conditions.
He also stressed that the military actions carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran must be punished.
Earlier the same day, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington would only accept Iran’s unconditional surrender.
The statement came as the confrontation between Iran, the United States, and Israel continues to intensify following a series of military actions across the region.
The current escalation began on Feb. 28, when Israel and the United States launched military strikes against Iran while negotiations between Tehran and Washington were still ongoing.
Iran responded by carrying out attacks not only against Israel but also against targets connected to U.S. military presence in the region. These included locations in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, countries that host American military bases.
According to Iran’s Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpur, the U.S.-Israel attacks have resulted in 926 deaths.
Reports also indicated that several senior Iranian officials were killed in the strikes, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
The situation continues to unfold as the conflict between Iran, the United States and Israel deepens across the region.
