Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed Tuesday that its Aerospace Force struck a compound housing U.S. troops in Jordan's al-Rukban area, alleging that several American soldiers were killed.
The IRGC said the attack was carried out as part of the 24th wave of Operation Nasr 2, describing it as a continuation of its punitive operations against the U.S.
"It should be known that no nation calls cowardly soldiers who use advanced weapons to kill innocent children heroes," the statement carried out by Tasnim News Agency said.
The claim comes just days after two U.S. service members were killed and another was initially reported missing following an Iranian missile and drone attack on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. A separate U.S. service member was killed in northern Iraq during the controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone.
The latest exchange came after the U.S. military carried out another round of overnight strikes across southern and central Iran, targeting the cities of Isfahan and Shiraz as well as Chabahar, Konarak, Bandar Lengeh, Sirik and Abadan, according to Iranian media.
Iranian officials said the attacks caused no casualties and that assessments of the damage were ongoing.
On Monday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had completed another round of strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure.
"U.S. forces struck Iranian military command centers, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems to degrade Iran's ability to continue attacking commercial vessels flowing through the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM said in a statement.
The command said commercial vessel transits through the international maritime corridor continued uninterrupted, adding that U.S. forces have helped facilitate the passage of about 900 commercial vessels carrying roughly 450 million barrels of crude oil since early May.
"American forces remain postured and prepared to hold Iran accountable for unwarranted aggression toward civilian mariners seeking to freely and openly transit the strait," it added.
In response to U.S. strikes, the IRGC claimed it launched missile and drone attacks against U.S. military targets in Bahrain and Kuwait as part of the 24th wave of Operation Nasr 2.
The IRGC alleged that it destroyed a U.S. radar and an air defense system in Bahrain's Muharraq area, as well as a Patriot air defense battery in Riffa.
It also claimed to have targeted a long-range radar site, a communications center, satellite communication systems and a hangar housing MQ-9 drones at Kuwait's Ali Al Salem Air Base, saying multiple drones were destroyed or severely damaged.
The statement further alleged that early-warning and missile-defense radars, an FPS-117 radar, a Patriot air defense system and satellite communication systems at Kuwait's Ahmad Al Jaber Air Base were destroyed.
Separately, Iran's army said it carried out the 19th phase of its Lightning Operation, launching one-way attack drones against the U.S.-operated Camp Arifjan, Camp Buehring and the Jaber Air Base in Kuwait.
It claimed the strikes targeted administrative buildings and navigation antennas at Camp Arifjan, a helicopter parking area at Camp Buehring and a building housing U.S. personnel at the Jaber Air Base.
