Iran will declare the militaries of European Union countries that designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a "terrorist organization" as terrorists themselves, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council said Friday
Meanwhile, a U.S. destroyer docked at Israel's southern port of Eilat amid escalating regional tensions.
Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said on X that the armies of EU countries included in the decision against the IRGC will be considered terrorists under Iranian law.
"The European Union of course knows that according to the decision of the parliament in Iran, the armies of countries included in the latest EU decision against the Revolutionary Guards Corps are considered terrorists. Therefore, the European countries taking such action will be responsible for its consequences," Larijani wrote.
Iran's parliament passed legislation in 2023 mandating that European armies be designated as "terrorist" if the EU placed the IRGC on its terror list.
Iran previously designated the US military as a "terrorist organization" in 2019 after Washington declared the Revolutionary Guards a "foreign terrorist organization."
The US military destroyer USS Delbert D. Black docked at the southern Israeli port of Eilat on Friday, according to Israeli media.
The Israeli military said the visit was "preplanned and part of ongoing coordination between Israeli and US forces," describing the docking as routine military cooperation amid heightened regional tensions.
A reporter for The Times of Israel shared a photograph on X showing the destroyer positioned a short distance from the shoreline near Eilat.
Israel's public broadcaster KAN reported the step includes reinforced naval deployment and elevated defensive readiness as Israeli security agencies closely monitor US military movements.
The developments come as tensions have escalated between Tehran and Washington in recent weeks following US President Donald Trump's statement that a "massive armada" was moving toward Iran, alongside his call for Tehran to "come to the table" for negotiations.
Iranian officials have warned that any US attack would draw a "swift and comprehensive" response while reiterating that Tehran remains open to talks only under what it describes as "fair, balanced and noncoercive terms."
