Iran warned Friday that the U.S. could launch another military attack despite reports that American naval vessels were withdrawing from the region, saying any renewed strike would face an immediate and decisive response.

Army spokesperson Brig. Gen. Mohammad Akraminia said the possibility of another U.S. attack could not be ruled out and suggested Washington could resort to military action because of what he described as political difficulties, according to ISNA.

Citing instructions from Iran’s supreme leader, Akraminia said the armed forces’ response to any new attack must be “immediate, effective and without geographical restrictions.”

He said U.S. bases and interests beyond West Asia and the Gulf were within range of Iranian missiles and drones and could be targeted if Iran came under renewed attack.

Iran says Hormuz remains under its control

Akraminia said the Strait of Hormuz remained under Iran’s strategic control and would not reopen until Tehran’s conditions were met.

He added that Iran’s armed forces remained fully prepared to defend the country.

The U.S. and Israel launched military attacks against Iran on Feb. 28. A ceasefire was reached in April, followed by a memorandum in June aimed at concluding a peace agreement, but the conflict remains unresolved.

Iranian lawmaker warns Trump over regional conflict

Separately, Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran’s parliamentary National Security Committee, said the U.S. and Israel would face consequences over the war.

“We won’t let Trump walk away from the region without paying a price and reparations,” Azizi wrote on X.

“Every mistake will be met with a decisive response until we liberate America’s largest military base, the Zionist regime, once and for all.”

His remarks came as Iran’s supreme leader ordered the military to update its target bank and respond to any new attack “without geographical limitations.”
