An Iranian attack struck a building belonging to a Chinese company in northern Kuwait, killing one worker and causing extensive material damage, Kuwait's army said Thursday, as Jordan separately reported downing five Iranian missiles for a fourth consecutive day.
Defense Ministry spokesperson Col. Saud Abdulaziz al-Atwan said in a statement that "the sinful Iranian aggression" targeted a building belonging to a Chinese company in the north of the country, resulting in the death of one worker and significant material damage to the building.
He said relevant authorities began taking necessary measures and responding to the situation immediately after the incident, in coordination with other agencies.
It did not name the Chinese company.
The Kuwaiti Armed Forces said they would continue carrying out their duties with high efficiency and would take all necessary measures to protect national sovereignty and safeguard security and stability, in coordination with relevant authorities, in a way that preserves the safety of citizens and residents.
The statement did not name the Chinese company, specify the nationality of the worker killed, or provide further detail on the number of other casualties or the extent of damage beyond describing it as "significant material damage."
Jordan's army said Thursday it intercepted and downed five missiles launched from Iran toward the kingdom early that morning, with no casualties reported.
This marks the fourth consecutive day Jordan has reported such incidents: the army said it downed five missiles Wednesday, intercepted one drone Tuesday, and intercepted two drones Monday.
