Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a written message on Thursday to mark the 37th anniversary of Ruhollah Khomeini’s death and the Eid al-Ghadir holiday. Read publicly on his behalf, it marks his latest written address since being wounded in the February U.S. and Israeli airstrikes that killed his father, then-supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.

"To the dear nation I say: the malicious enemy, having been defeated in confrontation with your brave children in the armed forces and having experienced a deeply meaningful humiliation, both in military combat and in the street and field, which has caused a tangible divergence of countries from it, has now concentrated its hybrid war efforts on two points: the public's resilience and creating errors in the decision-making apparatus of the country's officials," Khamenei's message read.

"Its main tool in both of these is planting the seeds of doubt, despair, fear, suspicion and division. Therefore, in order to counter these malicious intentions, everyone must neutralize its sinister plan through steadfastness, clarity of vision, preservation of unity and cohesion, mutual trust and refusing to align with the enemy," he added.

'New opportunity'

Khamenei's message framed the post-war moment as one of historic opportunity rather than exhaustion.

He said a "new opportunity" had emerged to demonstrate and realize the legacy of Khomeini and his father Ali Khamenei, whom he referred to as "the martyred leader."

He described the Iranian nation as "faithful, intelligent and courageous" and as the true owners of the country and source of its power, echoing formulations associated with the elder Khamenei's approach to political mobilization.

He described any action that created pessimism or frustration among the public as assistance to the enemy.

The message also addressed Iran's geopolitical position, arguing that the "system of domination," a term the Islamic Republic uses for U.S. and Israeli-aligned global power, could not accept the existence of "a strong, independent Iran with various advantages" on the eastern border of what Khamenei called the "false and void geography of Greater Israel, east of the Euphrates."
