Iran's navy commander dismissed the U.S. port blockade as "very ridiculous and laughable," and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Commander Gen. Ismail Qaani warned that the resistance front would "expel" the U.S. from the region as it had from Yemen and the Red Sea.
Meanwhile, the Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian, stated on Sunday that an agreement with the United States is still achievable if Washington changes its approach.
Pezeshkian posted the statement on X in Persian, with an English translation shared on the platform.
"If the American government abandons its totalitarianism and respects the rights of the Iranian nation, ways to reach an agreement will certainly be found," Pezeshkian wrote.
He also praised the Iranian negotiating delegation. "I commend the members of the negotiating team, especially my dear brother Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and say, 'Allah gives you strength,'" he added.
Rear Admiral Shahram Irani rejected the U.S. blockade announcement in a statement carried by Iranian Press TV on Telegram.
"The brave men of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Navy are tracking and monitoring all movements of the aggressor U.S. military in the region," Irani said.
"The threats of the U.S. president following the humiliating defeat of his army in the third imposed war, a naval blockade on Iran, are very ridiculous and laughable," he added.
IRGC Quds Force Commander Gen. Ismail Qaani issued a direct warning to the U.S. and Israel.
"The unified resistance front has a powerful and effective presence across the entire region and is waiting for the enemies of humanity. America and the Zionist regime should remember how they fled empty-handed from heroic Yemen, Bab al-Mandab, and the Red Sea. Now, too, they will leave the region without any achievement," Qaani said.
Mohsen Rezaee, a military adviser and former Revolutionary Guard commander, also rejected the blockade threat on X.
"America, just as it suffered a historic defeat against Iran in failing to open the Strait of Hormuz, is also doomed to failure in its maritime blockade. Iran's armed forces will not grant America such permission and possess major untapped levers for countering it," Rezaee stated.
He said Iran's armed forces possessed "major untouched levers" to counter a Hormuz blockade and that Iran would not be coerced by "tweets and imaginary plans."
"Iran is not a place to be blockaded with tweets and fanciful schemes!" he added.
