Israel builds underground bunker in Jerusalem amid rising tensions
Israeli media has reported that an underground bunker has been constructed in Jerusalem to accommodate high-level leaders during extended conflicts. This development comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly involving Israel, Iran, and Lebanon.
Following the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and recent Israeli attacks on Beirut, there have been retaliatory threats from Lebanon and Iran. In light of these increasing risks, Israel has completed preparations to safeguard its leaders from potential attacks and assassinations.
Prepared for top officials
The Israeli internal security service, Shin Bet, has finalized the construction of this bunker, designed to house top officials during times of protracted conflict. Situated deep within the Jerusalem mountains, the bunker is equipped to withstand a range of threats, including earthquakes, nuclear, chemical, biological, conventional, and cyber attacks.
The project, estimated to cost billions of shekels, features various facilities, including halls and discussion rooms. It is intended to serve as a command center for the government to manage the country in the event of a missile attack or nuclear war.
