Israeli and Jordanian forces intercepted two drones of unknown origin near their shared border on Monday, according to the statements.

Both sides confirmed the aircraft were brought down before causing any casualties or material damage, while Israel said the launch origin remains under investigation.

Israel, Jordan shoot down drones

The Israeli military said its air defenses intercepted two unmanned aerial vehicles detected near the Jordanian border before they crossed into Israeli territory.

In a brief statement, the military added that the drones' point of origin had not yet been determined.

Jordan's Armed Forces separately announced that Royal Jordanian Air Force aircraft intercepted and shot down two drones targeting Jordanian territory.

A military source said the operation caused no casualties or property damage, adding that security forces remain on alert to respond to any threat to the kingdom's airspace.

Jordan back on alert

During the latest exchange of attacks between the United States and Iran, Jordan repeatedly came under Iranian missile and drone attacks. The attacks primarily targeted U.S. military facilities on Jordanian territory, including the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base near Azraq.

Jordanian air defenses intercepted many of the incoming projectiles, but an Iranian ballistic missile strike on the base killed three U.S. service members and wounded dozens more.

However, after the U.S. halted its strikes on Iran last Friday, the cross-border attacks subsided. Iran has yet to announce any new missile or drone attacks targeting U.S. military facilities in Jordan since then.
