The Israeli military released footage showing the bombing of what it described as an underground military bunker in central Tehran that it claims was linked to Iran’s late leader Ali Khamenei.
The video was shared by Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee on X, where he provided details about the airstrike targeting the site.
Adraee said 50 Israeli warplanes carried out the strike, targeting what he described as a shelter used by Iran’s high command during the ongoing conflict.
The facility extends beneath streets and avenues in central Tehran and includes multiple entrances and specially designed rooms for high-level meetings, he said.
The underground site served as a coordination hub where Iranian authorities oversaw military planning and strategic decision-making, he added..
Adraee said the bunker was built for Khamenei but never used by him, adding that other senior Iranian officials were continuing to use the facility.
Iranian authorities have not publicly confirmed the details about the underground complex or commented on the footage released by the Israeli military.
Khamenei was killed during the opening phase of joint U.S.-Israel airstrikes on Iran on Feb. 28, when strikes targeted locations in Tehran, including areas near the supreme leader’s official residence.
Iranian state television later confirmed his death, while Israeli and U.S. officials said the initial wave of attacks also killed dozens of senior Iranian political and military figures.
