Hamas accused Israel on Monday of waging a “continuing war in different forms” in the Gaza Strip, saying intensified Israeli attacks that killed at least five Palestinians and injured several others amounted to more than isolated ceasefire violations.
“The systematic fascist escalation by the government of war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu in Gaza is no longer a series of scattered violations but a continuing war in different forms and a repudiation of the ceasefire agreement,” Hamas said in a statement.
The group said Israeli forces had intensified attacks across Gaza since Monday morning, including demolishing homes in southern Gaza, opening fire on fishermen off Gaza City and targeting civilians in different parts of the enclave.
Five Palestinians were killed and several others injured Monday in Israeli attacks across Gaza.
Hamas said the latest strikes showed that Netanyahu’s government was continuing what it described as a “war of genocide” and failing to meet its obligations under the ceasefire agreement.
“What is happening is no longer scattered violations or separate incidents but has become a systematic policy of aggression and a continuing war in different forms,” the group said.
Hamas called on the U.N., the international community and the public to take action to isolate Israel, hold its leaders accountable and protect Palestinians from what it described as threats of “genocide and displacement.”
It also urged mediators and guarantors of the ceasefire to pressure the Israeli government to halt its attacks and comply with the agreement.
The attacks came despite U.S. President Donald Trump saying in an Aug. 17 interview with Fox News that Israel should not be carrying out strikes on Gaza.
The ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10, 2025.
Since then, Israeli violations of the agreement have killed 1,320 Palestinians and injured 4,385 others, while rescue teams have recovered hundreds of bodies from beneath the rubble.
As of Sunday, about 73,454 Palestinians had been killed in Gaza since October 2023 and 174,486 injured, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
