Israeli forces detained 58 Palestinians, including women, a child with a disability and a 75-year-old man, during raids across the occupied West Bank on Sunday, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office.
The raids began in the morning and targeted several areas, particularly Nablus, Hebron and Tulkarem, the office said.
The mass detentions came as Israeli settlers carried out separate attacks in the Nablus and Ramallah areas, setting fire to an under-construction mosque and part of a Palestinian home and injuring several workers, according to official Palestinian media.
Israeli forces detained 27 Palestinians, including one woman, during raids in Nablus and surrounding towns.
In Hebron and nearby communities, 13 Palestinians were detained, including a 75-year-old man and a child with a disability.
Fourteen Palestinians, including one woman, were detained during raids in Tulkarem and surrounding towns.
Israeli forces also detained two Palestinians in Jenin.
Two others, including one woman, were detained in Tammun, southeast of Tubas.
Israeli settlers set fire to an under-construction mosque and part of a Palestinian home in separate attacks across the occupied West Bank early Sunday, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
The attacks in the Nablus and Ramallah areas damaged residential property, construction materials and heavy equipment.
In Qusra, south of Nablus, settlers raided the southern part of the town and set fire to Al-Rahma Mosque, which was under construction.
The blaze burned wooden materials and construction equipment at the site.
In nearby Beit Furik, east of Nablus, settlers attacked the Al-Dubbat neighborhood and set fire to part of a Palestinian resident’s home.
The fire caused partial damage before firefighters brought it under control.
The attackers also spray-painted racist graffiti calling for revenge against Arabs, according to Palestinian security sources cited by WAFA.
Several Palestinian workers were injured in another settler attack on a stone-crushing facility in the Ein Samiya area near Kafr Malik, east of Ramallah.
The workers sustained injuries and bruises, while settlers set fire to heavy machinery before leaving the area.
Raids, detentions and attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem have increased since Israel launched its military offensive on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
According to official Palestinian figures, Israeli military raids and settler attacks have killed at least 1,182 Palestinians, injured thousands and led to the detention of nearly 24,000 people during that period.
Israeli figures show that at least 48 Israelis, including civilians and security personnel, have been killed in Palestinian attacks or during Israeli military operations since the Gaza war began.
An Agence France-Presse (AFP) tally based on Palestinian Health Ministry data says Israeli soldiers or settlers have killed at least 1,094 Palestinians, including militants and civilians, over the same period.
