Kazakhstan has delivered 30 wagons of humanitarian aid to Iran as the country continues to face severe economic pressure following months of war with the U.S. and Israel, the Tasnim news agency reported.
The shipment was sent on the orders of Kazakhstan’s president and handed over to the Iranian Red Crescent Society at the Sarakhs railway station on May 16, 2026.
The aid was delivered by the Kazakhstan Agency for International Development, known as KazAID, in cooperation with Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry, Emergency Situations Ministry and Health Ministry.
The handover ceremony took place at Sarakhs railway station, where the humanitarian shipment was officially delivered to the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
According to the report, the aid was sent within the framework of humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Iran.
The shipment included canned meat, sugar, first-grade flour, medical equipment and medicine.
The aid was sent to support the Iranian people and help meet social needs, according to Tasnim.
Kazakh Ambassador to Iran Ontalap Onalbayev attended the ceremony and highlighted ties between the two countries.
“Iran is one of Kazakhstan’s important political, economic and humanitarian partners in the Middle East and the Islamic world,” Onalbayev said.
“True friends are known in difficult times,” he added.
Onalbayev also said Kazakhstan had supported the Iranian people during different periods.
The delivery comes as Iran is dealing with a severe economic crisis following months of war with the U.S. and Israel.
War-related disruptions have driven annual inflation to about 53.7%, according to Iran’s official statistics center.
Food prices have also surged more than 115% compared with the previous year.
The shipment from Kazakhstan comes as Iran continues to face pressure on basic goods and social needs, while the humanitarian aid includes food supplies, medical equipment and medicine.
