Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Sunday urged the U.S. and the international community to act urgently to stop Israeli attacks after airstrikes killed at least four people and wounded 20 others across Lebanon despite a truce and an Israel-Lebanon agreement.

Aoun described the latest strikes as “a dangerous escalation,” saying they had reached Lebanese state institutions and health facilities.

He called on the U.S. and other countries “to urgently act to stop these violations.”

The strikes also damaged government premises and destroyed a hospital that was no longer in service.

Strikes kill 4, wound 20 across Lebanon

According to preliminary figures from the Lebanese Health Ministry’s Emergency Operations Center, two people were killed and two others wounded in a strike on Nabatieh al-Fawqa.

Another Israeli strike targeted the Rahibat neighborhood in Nabatieh, wounding eight people, including a woman and a child.

In Arabsalim, two people were killed and six others wounded, including two children.

Four women were also wounded in an Israeli strike on Kfar Rumman.

Aoun calls for international intervention

Aoun said the attacks represented a serious escalation because they affected Lebanese government institutions and health facilities.

He urged Washington and the wider international community to intervene to stop further Israeli strikes.
