Countries across the Middle East reported new aerial attacks early Monday as the regional conflict continued to intensify, with missile launches, airstrikes and drone interceptions reported across several countries.

Iran announced new missile launches while Israel carried out fresh strikes, and multiple Gulf states said they intercepted drones or missiles targeting key sites.

Iran and Lebanon report new strikes

In Iran, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced new missile launches hours after the country named a new supreme leader.

Israel also launched another “wave of strikes” targeting Iranian missile launch sites and regime infrastructure, according to the Israeli military.

A CNN team in Tehran reported hearing several thuds across the capital that appeared to be airstrikes.

In Lebanon, the Israeli military said it struck Hezbollah infrastructure in the capital, Beirut. Video from Reuters showed plumes of smoke rising from the city’s southern suburbs.

Separate videos showed a fire at Beirut’s Ramada hotel and damage to an apartment there following an Israeli attack.

The Israeli military said it carried out a strike in Beirut overnight that killed several senior commanders from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force.

Attacks and explosions reported across Gulf states

In Bahrain, videos shared on social media and geolocated by CNN showed a large fire and thick smoke billowing from an industrial zone housing the national oil company BAPCO.

Bahraini authorities previously reported that at least 32 people were wounded when Iranian drone strikes hit the town of Sitra, about 6 kilometers (3.72 miles) from the industrial area.

Children were among those wounded in the attacks, which targeted residential areas close to energy infrastructure, according to the National Communication Centre.

In the United Arab Emirates, a CNN team in Abu Dhabi reported hearing loud booms described as some of the loudest since the start of the war.

The country’s defense ministry said the sounds were caused by air defense systems intercepting ballistic missiles, while fighter jets intercepted drones and cruise missiles.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar intercept drones and missiles

Saudi Arabia said four drones heading toward the Shaybah oil field, one of the region’s largest oil fields, were intercepted and destroyed in the Rub’ al Khali desert.

In Kuwait, the National Guard said it shot down a drone at one of the sites under its protection “as part of efforts to secure vital facilities.”

Qatar’s armed forces also said they intercepted a missile attack, according to the country’s Ministry of Defense.
