Moldova on Sunday condemned what it described as an unauthorized drone-like aircraft that flew near the villages of Berezlogi and Dereneu overnight before an explosion occurred in midair, marking the third consecutive day of reported drone-related incidents.

The Moldovan Foreign Ministry called the incident an “unacceptable violation” of the country’s airspace and said it posed a direct threat to the safety and security of citizens.

“The Republic of Moldova strongly condemns such incidents and reiterates that the country's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and airspace must be fully respected,” the ministry said on Telegram.

Authorities did not identify the aircraft’s origin or operator.

Third consecutive day of drone-related incidents

Moldova has reported drones or suspected drone debris in its territory for three straight days.

On Friday, suspected drone fragments were discovered near Colonita in the Chisinau municipality.

On Saturday, Moldova’s Border Police reported several unidentified aircraft flying near the Moldovan-Ukrainian border.

Authorities said no debris or evidence of an explosion was found on Moldovan territory following Saturday’s sightings.
