Azerbaijan will never allow its airspace or territory to be used by any country to conduct military operations against neighboring Iran, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said Thursday.
Bayramov made the remarks during a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to a statement released by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
During the conversation, Bayramov said the recent escalation of tensions in the region is a cause for concern.
He stressed that Azerbaijan has consistently emphasized the need for all parties to refrain from actions and rhetoric that could lead to instability in Iran and the surrounding region.
Bayramov underlined that Azerbaijan follows developments closely and favors de-escalation at a time of heightened regional tensions.
The Azerbaijani foreign minister highlighted the importance of resolving disputes exclusively through dialogue and diplomatic channels.
He said issues should be addressed in accordance with international law and its established principles, reiterating Azerbaijan’s position in favor of peaceful solutions.
