A projectile struck near the perimeter of Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant on Saturday morning, killing a member of the facility's physical protection staff and damaging an auxiliary building, according to Iranian media reports.
The strike hit near the fence of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, the report said. Its main section was not affected, and operations continue as normal.
According to reports, the blast wave and shrapnel damaged one of the plant’s auxiliary buildings. Iranian sources also said a member of the plant’s physical protection unit was killed in the attack.
Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that the Bushehr nuclear power plant was targeted in what it described as a U.S.-Israeli attack on Saturday morning.
Tasnim said a projectile struck the grounds near the facility. Another report said a strike hit near the perimeter of the plant.
It was not immediately clear what the strike was.
Tasnim reported that one person was killed in the attack, while the Persian-language report said one of the employees working in the plant's physical protection section was killed.
The reports said the attack occurred near the plant's boundary area and around the fence of the facility.
Tasnim said auxiliary buildings at the facility sustained damage, while another report said one of the plant's side buildings was damaged by the blast wave and shrapnel from the strike.
The strike was the fourth attack on the Bushehr nuclear power plant since the outbreak of the war, the report said, though it did not provide further details on the earlier attacks.
The U.S. and Israel did not immediately comment on the claims, according to the reports.
