Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, said Saturday that repeated U.S. violations of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two countries' presidents showed that U.S. President Donald Trump's signature is "utterly worthless and devoid of credibility," as fighting between Washington and Tehran continued following the collapse of a ceasefire.

In a written statement, Khamenei said, "The repeated breaches of the agreement by the Great Satan (the U.S.) regarding the MoU signed by the Presidents of Iran and the US have once again laid bare a fundamental truth: the signature of the US President is utterly worthless and devoid of credibility."

"Coercion, totalitarianism, and brutality are inseparable components of the US creed and doctrine. Today, the Great Satan has once again revealed its true, unmasked face, so that this dark episode of criminality and broken promises serves as yet another indisputable testament to the US's dishonesty, irrationality, unreliability, and malicious nature," he added.

Khamenei warned that as "the American enemy is seeking to escalate the conflict, thereby incurring even heavier costs and further humiliation, it should know that the noble nation of Iran and the Resistance Front have unforgettable lessons in store for it."

The statements followed Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi's announcement that Tehran had suspended its own commitments under the MoU after what he described as U.S. violations.

Tensions have continued to escalate as the U.S. and Iran exchange attacks, despite the Pakistan-brokered memorandum signed in June aimed at ending the war and reaching a lasting peace agreement.

Iranian official's remarks following US casualty announcement

Separately, Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian Parliament's National Security Commission, made comments after U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that two U.S. service members were killed and one remained missing following Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks in Jordan on Friday.

"If US troops truly understood what our wise Supreme Leader meant by ‘unforgettable lessons,’ they wouldn’t waste a single second fleeing," he wrote on X.

CENTCOM said in a statement Saturday: "On July 17, two U.S. service members in Jordan were killed in action as U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks."

The command said four additional service members who had been medically evacuated to hospitals in Jordan had since been discharged, while other personnel treated for minor injuries had returned to duty.

"Out of respect for the families, CENTCOM will withhold additional information, including the identities of the fallen warriors, until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified," the command said.
