Syria's presidential committee spokesman Ahmad al-Hilali said the announcement on the dissolution of the PKK/YPG-dominated SDF will be made "very soon," as the group's military, security and civilian institutions move toward integration with state institutions.

Hilali, who is also deputy governor of al-Hasakah, made the remarks to Syria TV while discussing progress in implementing the agreement.

"We worked during the past period to address some of the challenges, including the judicial file," he said.

He said the process of integrating military, security and civilian institutions affiliated with the YPG into state institutions had reached an advanced stage.

Türkiye closely follows Syria-SDF integration process

Türkiye’s Ambassador to Syria Nuh Yilmaz recently said Ankara was closely following the process between the Syrian government and the SDF.

Yilmaz said Türkiye’s position on terrorist elements in the region was clear, stressing that the SDF and PKK/YPG must be completely removed from the region.

"We envision the dream not only as an environment where terrorism has ended in Türkiye, but across our entire region," Yilmaz said.

"The complete elimination of SDF and PKK elements throughout Türkiye, Syria and Iraq is essential for Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty," he added.

Yilmaz said Ankara supported steps aimed at ending terrorism, adding that the integration process was moving slowly.

"As (Syrian) President Ahmad al-Sharaa has also stated, although the integration process is moving slowly, we support steps aimed at bringing terrorism to an end," Yilmaz said.

The Syrian government announced Jan. 29 that it had reached a "comprehensive agreement" with the SDF aimed at ending division in the country and beginning a new phase of integration.

The agreement covers the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli and the integration of military forces. The government said it complements a previous agreement signed Jan. 18.
