Syria's army announced plans to conduct strikes against SDF terror group in Deir Hafer, a town east of Aleppo, issuing warnings to civilians on Friday to avoid specified areas ahead of the military operation.

The Syrian military released several statements declaring its intention to target locations in Deir Hafer that it described as staging grounds for attacks. SDF have been using the area "as a launching point for their terrorist operations towards the city of Aleppo and its eastern countryside," according to the army's warnings.

Military reinforcements move into position

Syrian forces have deployed additional troops near Deir Hafer in recent days, following last week's expulsion of the group from Aleppo city itself. The warnings to civilians suggest the strikes could be imminent, though the military has not specified an exact timeline for the operation.

Deir Hafer sits along a strategic route connecting Aleppo to territories in eastern Syria. Control of the town and surrounding areas has shifted multiple times during Syria's long-running conflict, which began in 2011 as an uprising against President Bashar al-Assad's government and evolved into a complex multi-sided war involving SDF terrorists, opposition groups, government troops, and various foreign powers.
