U.S. President Donald Trump said Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is dead, calling it justice for the Iranian people, Americans and others around the world who he said had been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his associates.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Khamenei “was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems” and that, working closely with Israel, “there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do.”
Trump described the development as the “single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their Country.”
He said the U.S. is hearing that many members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, military and other security and police forces no longer want to fight and are seeking immunity.
“As I said last night, ‘Now they can have Immunity, later they only get Death!’” Trump wrote.
He expressed hope that the IRGC and police would peacefully merge with what he described as Iranian patriots and work together to restore the country.
Trump said that following Khamenei’s death, the country had been “very much destroyed and, even, obliterated” in one day.
He added that “heavy and pinpoint bombing” would continue uninterrupted throughout the week, or as long as necessary, to achieve what he described as “peace throughout the Middle East and, indeed, the world.”
The statement concluded with Trump thanking readers for their attention to the matter.
