Türkiye condemned an Israeli minister’s raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque with a group of settlers, saying the action violated the historical and legal status of the Muslim holy site and risked deepening tension and instability in the region.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued the statement on May 14, saying it condemned the raid carried out by the Israeli minister and accompanying settlers.
“We condemn the raid carried out by an Israeli minister on Al-Aqsa Mosque with a group of settlers,” the ministry said.
The ministry described Al-Aqsa Mosque as a holy site belonging to Muslims and said actions targeting its status were provocative.
The Foreign Ministry said the raid was among provocative actions that violate the historical and legal identity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
“These provocative actions, which violate the historical and legal identity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, a holy site belonging to Muslims, risk further deepening tension and instability in the region,” the ministry said.
Türkiye also renewed its call on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities regarding the Palestinian people and holy sites in occupied East Jerusalem.
The ministry urged the international community to act to protect the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and prevent violations targeting occupied East Jerusalem and its holy sites.
The statement said Türkiye was repeating its call for international responsibility in the face of violations against Palestinian rights and sacred places.
