Türkiye has completed the evacuation of its personnel from Baghdad following a NATO decision to withdraw the NATO Iraq Mission, according to the Defense Ministry.
Defense Ministry Press and Public Relations Advisor and spokesperson Zeki Akturk said the evacuation of Turkish Armed Forces personnel stationed in Iraq’s capital was carried out successfully.
Akturk said NATO authorities decided to withdraw the NATO Iraq Mission in light of recent developments in the region.
“In line with this decision, the evacuation of our Turkish Armed Forces personnel serving in Baghdad has been successfully completed,” he said during a weekly press briefing at the ministry.
He added that Türkiye also supported the evacuation efforts of personnel from allied countries as part of the NATO-led withdrawal plan.
Akturk said the Turkish Armed Forces continue to contribute to peace and stability across a wide geography through international missions and bilateral relations.
He noted that Türkiye remains engaged in efforts aimed at maintaining stability and supporting peace in different regions.
