Türkiye has declared that Syria's stability is "directly connected" to Turkish national security, with defense officials pledging comprehensive support for the Syrian government's efforts to maintain territorial integrity.
"Syria's stability is directly connected to Türkiye's security, and every step taken in this direction contributes to regional peace," Turkish Defense Ministry sources stated Thursday during a weekly press briefing in Ankara, emphasizing the critical security nexus between the two nations.
The comments come as Türkiye continues its military training and advisory activities in Syria under a Joint Training and Advisory Memorandum signed between the two nations on Aug. 13.
"In this context, Türkiye will provide the necessary contribution to the training centers planned to be established in line with Syria's demands. Türkiye will support all measures taken by the Syrian government to protect its unity and integrity," defense officials stated.
Ministry sources emphasized Türkiye's belief that Syria will achieve stability through "a central governance model that preserves Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty while not allowing separatist elements."
"The Syrian government is continuing its work with the intention of approaching all ethnic and sectarian groups in the country with equal distance," the sources noted.

Defense Ministry Spokesperson Rear Admiral Zeki Akturk reported that two PKK terrorists fled their hideouts and surrendered to Turkish forces in the past week.
Security forces destroyed weapons, ammunition, and various materials found in caves and shelters belonging to terrorists—particularly in the Claw-Lock operation area.
In ongoing tunnel destruction activities in Syrian operational areas, Turkish forces destroyed 8 kilometers (4.97 miles) of tunnels in the Menbic region last week, bringing the total length of destroyed tunnels to 556 kilometers.
Border security operations intercepted 395 individuals attempting illegal crossings, including five terrorist organization members, while 976 people were prevented from crossing.
Since Jan. 1, authorities have captured 5,508 individuals attempting illegal border crossings and prevented 47,857 from crossing.
Admiral Akturk condemned Israel's ongoing military operations in Gaza, describing the humanitarian situation as increasingly "unbearable" as the Palestinian population faces starvation.
He accused Israeli forces of deliberately targeting innocent civilians, including those in hospitals and journalists.
"The targeting of independent journalists aims to prevent the massacre and humanitarian tragedy from being reflected to the international community," Akturk said.
The spokesperson criticized Israel's attacks in Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen as damaging to regional security and stability, stating, "Israel's respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all neighboring and regional countries is essential for regional peace and stability."
