Türkiye and Poland see growing opportunities for cooperation in electric mobility, battery production, electronics and advanced technologies as Poland expands its sustainable transport sector, industry representatives said during a Polish Investment and Trade Agency program involving Turkish media.
The visit was organized by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, or PAIH, under its "Poland Business Forward" program and the Development and Technology Ministry's "Brand HUB" initiative.
The program highlighted the innovative potential of Polish small and medium-sized companies in electromobility and sustainable automotive solutions.
Turkish media representatives visited transport operations in Katowice, where they were briefed on the city's public transportation and new mobility projects. The delegation also toured a bus depot and viewed electric buses and charging stations forming part of the city's transport infrastructure.
The delegation also attended the 10th New Mobility Congress, a major Central and Eastern European gathering focused on sustainable transport.
The event brought together thousands of decision-makers, industry executives and experts for discussions on smart cities, energy infrastructure, climate policies and deep technology transformation.
Polish Automotive Group Executive Director Bartosz Mielecki and New Mobility Association board member Aleksander Rajch met with the Turkish media delegation to discuss mobility trends in Europe, Poland and Türkiye, as well as potential areas of bilateral cooperation.
Mielecki said European suppliers are facing several challenges at the same time, including rising energy costs, wages, pricing pressure from automakers and costly technological transitions.
He said Chinese brands increased their share of the Polish market from 6% to about 13% in one year.
However, he said Türkiye benefits from a significant competitive advantage through its customs union with the European Union, as vehicles manufactured in Türkiye can enter the EU without the import tariffs applied to Chinese vehicles.
The delegation also visited the factory of IMPACT, one of Poland's leading battery manufacturers, where company executives presented information on its development, partners, battery production processes, research and development facilities and production lines.
IMPACT Business Unit Director Sebastian Wojtas said deeper cooperation between Türkiye and Poland in batteries and electronic systems was always possible and that the company was closely following Türkiye's progress in electric mobility and technology.
Wojtas pointed to existing Turkish involvement in Polish infrastructure, saying one of Warsaw's metro lines was built by a Turkish company and that Turkish firms had also played important roles in highway and underwater tunnel projects in Poland.
"During the critical days of the Russia-Ukraine war, Baykar products supplied from Türkiye played an important role," Wojtas said.
"The Polish army was also equipped with similar systems during this period, increasing the potential for future technological cooperation between the two countries."
The Poland Business Forward program also allowed the Turkish delegation to visit production and research facilities of leading Polish automotive component and next-generation mobility manufacturers.
During meetings with company executives, potential areas of cooperation between Türkiye and Poland were also discussed.
