Türkiye’s first astronaut, Alper Gezeravci, delivered a presentation on Türkiye’s National Space Program and its first manned space mission at Azerbaijan Technical University (ATU).
The event, organized by the Yunus Emre Institute in Baku, drew participation from the university’s administration, academic staff, and many students.
In his speech, Gezeravci said that the space mission was carried out not only as a scientific advancement but also as an inspirational project for Turkish youth. “I am a symbolic figure in this mission. The real heroes are Turkish youth,” he said.
He explained the details of Türkiye’s National Space Program and its first human spaceflight mission during the presentation.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Gezeravci said he aimed to inspire Azerbaijani youth to achieve success in space exploration and technology. He expressed satisfaction with their enthusiasm, noting, “A new generation with tremendous potential for Azerbaijan’s future is coming step by step.”
Gezeravci also emphasized Türkiye’s cooperation with other Turkic states, stating, “We are forming a power alliance for the future across this geography. The member states of the Organization of Turkic States already have joint projects in space and satellite studies. In the coming period, we will make our mark in space together.”
