United Arab Emirates Presidential Adviser Anwar Gargash declared on Friday that "no unilateral Iranian arrangements" on the Strait of Hormuz can be trusted or relied upon following the country's treacherous aggression against all its neighbors.
Gargash wrote on X: "In the ongoing discussion surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, the collective international will and provisions of international law emerge as the primary guarantor of freedom of navigation through this vital passage, serving the stability of the region and the global economy in the post-war phase."
"No unilateral Iranian arrangements can be trusted or relied upon following its treacherous aggression against all its neighbors," he added.
His remarks directly referenced Iran's missile and drone strikes on UAE territory, 2,819 attacks by UAE's count, and other Gulf states following the February 28 U.S.-Israeli strikes.
Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude hit $126 a barrel on Thursday, the highest since March 2022, driven by reports of Trump being briefed on military strike options.
It settled above $111 Friday, still up 5.7% over the week. The closure of the Hormuz closure has cut off approximately 20% of global oil and gas supplies.
