The United Arab Emirates has banned its citizens from traveling to Iran, Lebanon and Iraq, citing current developments in the region, the UAE's Foreign Ministry said.
The decision was announced in a statement carried by the UAE’s official WAM news agency. The ministry said the measure was taken as part of efforts related to the safety of UAE citizens.
According to the statement, UAE citizens are not allowed to travel to Iran, Lebanon or Iraq because of the current situation in the region.
The ministry did not provide further details on the developments that led to the decision.
The ministry called on UAE citizens who are currently in Iran, Lebanon or Iraq to leave those countries as soon as possible and return to the UAE.
It said citizens’ safety remains a priority and stressed that Emiratis abroad should comply with official instructions and warnings issued by the authorities.
The Foreign Ministry also asked UAE citizens in Iran, Lebanon and Iraq to contact UAE authorities under the preventive measures announced.
The ministry said citizens abroad should follow the published guidance and warnings to help ensure their safety.
