The U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) has stated that Israel has been killing "a classroom full of children" every single day in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023.

In a written statement, UNRWA Gaza Director Sam Rose highlighted the staggering toll on children resulting from Israel’s ongoing military operations in the Gaza Strip.

"Since the beginning of the offensive, Israel has killed the equivalent of one classroom of children every day," Rose said.

While children in Gaza are direct victims of airstrikes, many others continue to suffer from repeated forced displacement, the loss of family members, a worsening food crisis, and deteriorating living conditions.

According to data from the Gaza Government Media Office, more than 18,000 children have been killed in Israeli attacks over the past 21 months.

The impact on Gaza’s children extends far beyond fatalities. Around 4,700 people—18% of them children—have undergone amputations. An estimated 42,000 children have lost one or both parents, and 70,000 children are currently suffering from malnutrition.
