The aircraft, tail number 06-6161, callsign MOOSE49, departed the Greek air base at approximately 22:00 local time (19:00 UTC).

The emergency code was activated at 7:11 p.m. UTC, according to flight tracking data. Turkish air traffic control authorities permitted the aircraft to divert and land at Incirlik's 10th Main Jet Base Command.

The incident was the second C-17 to signal an aerial emergency within 24 hours, according to flight monitoring sources.

C-17 Globemaster III aircraft of the U.S. Air Force have been using Greek military air bases as logistics hubs as part of the intensive aerial operations accompanying the ongoing U.S.-Israeli war against Iran.
