Yemen’s Houthis said Thursday they carried out four attacks against Saudi targets over the past 48 hours using ballistic missiles and drones, claiming to have struck the Saudi Defense Ministry in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, an Aramco facility in Yanbu and Abha International Airport.

The group claimed the strike on King Fahd International Airport disrupted air traffic, while the attack on the Aramco facility sparked a fire. It also reported direct hits on the Defense Ministry building in Riyadh and Abha International Airport.

Houthis threaten further escalation

The Houthis warned Saudi Arabia against targeting Yemeni tribes, threatening severe and unpredictable consequences if Riyadh carried out its threats. The group added that it could take steps it had so far avoided and held Saudi Arabia responsible for any further escalation.

The group also accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out more than 2,900 airstrikes and missile attacks over the past 100 days, claiming the attacks had killed or wounded more than 562 people, most of them women and children.

The Houthis vowed to continue striking targets deeper inside Saudi Arabia and targeting Saudi forces gathering near Yemen until the attacks stopped and the blockade on Yemen was lifted. They framed the operations as retaliation for what they described as continued Saudi aggression.

Meanwhile, essential staff at Saudi oil giant Aramco’s headquarters in Dhahran were told to work from home until further notice on Thursday, AFP reported. Most employees had already been working remotely since the Houthis struck the facility last week, while non-essential staff were ordered to stay home earlier.

Earlier strikes kill 4, hit Saudi airport and oil field

The latest claims come amid a series of attacks on Saudi energy and aviation infrastructure that have caused casualties and disrupted airport operations.

On Wednesday, Saudi air defenses intercepted a drone targeting a facility at Saudi Aramco’s Shaybah oil field in the Eastern Province. Falling debris killed two nationals from the Philippines and Nepal and injured two others from Pakistan and India, according to Saudi authorities.

The incident followed Houthi claims on Oct. 19 of attacks on several Saudi targets, including the Aramco facility in Yanbu, the Shaybah oil field, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha airport.

Separately, an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam on Wednesday killed two people and injured eight others. The strike damaged the airport and forced flights to divert, although operations later returned to normal.
