U.S. tech giant Amazon is preparing a joint bid with Saran Group, the media company owned by former Fenerbahce president Sadettin Saran, for Türkiye's next Super Lig broadcast rights tender, an offer that could reach roughly $400 million, Turkish media reported.
The two companies plan to submit a joint offer after the tender specifications are announced, Türkiye daily reported, as the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) is set to hold the tender on Jan. 13, 2027.
Amazon has expanded its sports broadcasting operations through Prime Video, holding football and other sports rights in several markets. Its current football portfolio includes UEFA Champions League rights in the U.K., Germany and Italy, with the specific rights and match packages varying by country.
In Brazil, Prime Video carries matches from the Brasileirao Serie A and Copa do Brasil. Amazon extended its Copa do Brasil agreement in September 2026 through 2030 and also secured rights to the Supercopa Rei from 2028 through 2031.
Beyond football, Amazon's sports portfolio includes competitions such as the NFL, NBA, WNBA, NHL, NASCAR and tennis, depending on the market.
Saran Group already has an established sports broadcasting business in Türkiye through S Sport, S Sport2 and the S Sport Plus streaming platform, which carry a range of international competitions including the EuroLeague, LaLiga, Bundesliga, NBA, Serie A and NFL.
The group has also previously bid for the Super Lig's domestic broadcasting rights. In the 2024 tender covering the 2024-25 through 2026-27 seasons, Saran Medya competed against beIN Sports, which ultimately secured the rights with a $182 million annual offer.
The previous tender followed a failed 2022 process, which the TFF canceled before extending its existing agreement with beIN for two seasons. Saran was among the bidders in that process and later emerged as a second-highest bidder for several rights packages.
Saran was elected Fenerbahce president in September 2025, becoming the club’s 38th president after defeating Ali Koc in an extraordinary election.
He served as president until June 2026, when he left the post after an extraordinary general assembly and did not stand as a candidate in the subsequent election.
Meanwhile, the TFF has also held initial talks with state-run telecommunications company Turkcell over the upcoming broadcasting rights tender, the report added.
TFF President Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu met with Turkcell's CEO together with a representative from the Clubs Association, with the discussions focusing on the new broadcasting rights tender and Turkcell's potential position in the bidding process.
Ahead of the tender, a broadcasting tender commission will oversee preparations, with representatives from the TFF, the Clubs Association and the 1st League involved in the process. Three Clubs Association representatives can also attend commission meetings as guests.
The commission is expected to meet regularly before the tender to set out clubs' expectations and determine the broadcasting model, financial criteria and technical requirements.
The TFF will then hand the framework to a company specializing in European broadcasting rights and sports media, which will prepare the tender specifications based on standards used by major European leagues and current industry requirements.
The specifications are expected to cover more than the rights fee, including production standards, technical infrastructure, image quality, camera technology and broadcast security.
Clubs have raised concerns in meetings over the broadcast quality, resolution and number of cameras used by the current rights holder, Qatar-based beIN Sports. The new tender specifications are expected to set out these technical requirements in greater detail.
