Anadolu Efes came up short against Serbian side Crvena zvezda, losing 91-81 in a EuroLeague Week 29 matchup played at Belgrade Arena, as the home team gradually took control after halftime and closed the game out with a strong final quarter.

Strong opening fades as momentum shifts before halftime

The EuroLeague, Europe’s top-tier professional basketball competition featuring leading clubs from across the continent, saw Anadolu Efes get off to a promising start on the road. The Turkish side edged ahead early and wrapped up the first quarter with a 23-19 lead, setting the tone with confident offensive execution.

However, the flow of the game began to turn in the second quarter. Crvena zvezda stepped up defensively and managed to disrupt Efes’ rhythm, allowing the Serbian team to overturn the early deficit. By halftime, Anadolu Efes had fallen behind 44-37, signaling a clear momentum shift heading into the break.

After coming back onto the court, Anadolu Efes attempted to fight its way back into the contest. Despite closing the gap and keeping the scoreline competitive, the visitors were unable to fully regain control. The third period ended with Crvena zvezda still in front at 65-62, leaving the outcome open going into the decisive final quarter.

The narrow margin suggested a balanced contest, yet the home side continued to build on its growing confidence as the game moved forward.

Home side pulls away late to seal victory

Crvena zvezda carried its momentum into the final period and maintained its strong level of play, gradually pulling away on the scoreboard. Anadolu Efes struggled to reverse the trend, and the Serbian representative secured a 91-81 victory by sustaining offensive efficiency through the closing minutes.

For Anadolu Efes, PJ Dozier led the scoring effort with 21 points, while Isaia Cordinier added 14. On the opposing side, Jared Butler matched the game-high total with 21 points, supported by Jordan Nwora with 14 and both Chima Moneke and Codi Miller-McIntyre contributing 12 points each.
