Anadolu Efes will host Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid today in the second round of the EuroLeague, with both teams looking to pick up their first victory of the new season.
The game will tip off at 8:00 p.m. local time at the Turkcell Basketball Development Center, with Anadolu Efes trying to bounce back after opening its campaign with an 89-82 road defeat against Barcelona.
Real Madrid will also arrive in Istanbul without a win after narrowly going down 78-77 away to Dubai Basketball in the opening round.
Led by head coach Pablo Laso, Anadolu Efes will therefore look to get its EuroLeague campaign back on track in front of its home supporters.
Tuesday's matchup will mark the 49th EuroLeague meeting between Anadolu Efes and Real Madrid since the two clubs first faced each other in March 2002.
Real Madrid have come out on top in 31 of the previous 48 games, while Anadolu Efes have won 17.
The Spanish side also swept both regular-season meetings last season, winning 81-75 and 82-71.
The EuroLeague is Europe's leading men's club basketball competition, bringing together many of the continent's biggest teams during the regular season before the leading sides move on to the playoff stages.
The Real Madrid game will also be Anadolu Efes' 915th appearance in European club competitions.
The Istanbul side have recorded 506 victories and 408 defeats across their previous 914 European games.
Since joining the EuroLeague in the 2001-02 season, Anadolu Efes have played 666 games in the competition, winning 349 and losing 317.
