Turkish basketball giant Anadolu Efes has officially announced the signing of Greek center Georgios Papagiannis, adding significant EuroLeague experience to their roster ahead of the 2025–26 season.
The 27-year-old, who stands at 2.2 meters (7.2 feet), spent last season with AS Monaco, helping the French side reach the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague final—the most successful campaign in the club's history. Papagiannis averaged 7.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game during the season.
His standout performance came in Game 5 of the playoff quarterfinals against Barcelona, where he scored 17 points, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc, and added five rebounds—despite not playing in the previous four games of the series. However, he did not feature in the Final Four in Berlin, missing both the semifinal win over Olympiakos and the final against Fenerbahce.
Speculation had been mounting in recent months that Papagiannis would depart Monaco, with both he and teammate Nick Calathes reportedly on the exit list.
Papagiannis brings a wealth of EuroLeague experience to Efes, having previously played for Panathinaikos in two stints (2014–16, 2018–23). He was named to the All-EuroLeague Second Team in 2023. His last stop before Monaco was Fenerbahce Beko, making Efes his third EuroLeague team.
