Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has a special plan for Turkish wunderkind Arda Guler, who made headlines with his transfer from Fenerbahce to Real Madrid. After a challenging first season plagued by injury, Guler is set to take on a new role in his second season with the Spanish giants.
Despite limited appearances last season, where Guler managed to score six goals in 12 starts, his impressive performance at Euro 2024 with Türkiye has kept fans excited about his potential.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Ancelotti is planning to utilize Guler primarily on the right wing, a position where he believes Guler’s proximity to the goal will maximize his effectiveness.
Ancelotti has expressed his admiration for Guler’s physical development and believes that playing him closer to the goal will allow him to showcase his special talent. The coach has ruled out using Guler on the left wing, insisting that he should play on the right, where he can cut in and shoot with his stronger foot.
Additionally, Guler is expected to compete with Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz for a spot in the lineup and could also be deployed as a forward when needed.
Guler’s skill on set pieces is another asset that Ancelotti plans to capitalize on as the young star continues to develop into a key player for Real Madrid.
