Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler has been named LaLiga's Best Under-23 Player for September, the Spanish league announced, recognizing the Turkish international's standout performances during the month.
"Arda Guler has been named LALIGA EA SPORTS Best Under-23 Player in September, an award presented by LALIGA in partnership with Riyadh Season," LaLiga said in a statement on Tuesday.
"The Turkish player has become a key part of Xabi Alonso's plans at Real Madrid, and this month he confirmed his status with several brilliant performances that helped Los Blancos secure three wins in the four games they played in September," the statement noted.
The 20-year-old helped Madrid secure three victories in four September matches, directly contributing with goals and assists in crucial games.
Guler opened the month with a spectacular goal in Madrid's 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad, helping his team earn three points in a difficult match.
"Guler started the month by scoring a great goal in the 2-1 win over Real Sociedad, which helped his team secure three hard-fought points. That win was followed by further victories, 2-0 against RCD Espanyol de Barcelona and 4-1 against Levante UD, in a match in which the Turkish player was once again one of the standout performers, also providing an assist," LaLiga noted in its statement.
"Real Madrid ended the month with a 5-2 defeat to Atlético de Madrid in a derby in which Guler also scored a fine goal," the statement added.
"Real Madrid's number 15 wins this award for the second time, having also won it in December last season. Guler beat Fermin Lopez (FC Barcelona), Javi Guerra (Valencia CF), Carlos Alvarez (Levante UD) and Martim Neto (Elche CF) in the final vote, succeeding Getafe CF's Adrian Liso, who won the trophy in August," the statement concluded.
The attacking midfielder, who wears number 15 for Real Madrid, has appeared in seven matches this season, starting six of them. He has recorded three goals and three assists across 501 minutes of play, earning an average rating of 8.03.
The left-footed player has received one yellow card and no red cards.
Born on February 25, 2005, Guler primarily plays as an attacking midfielder but is also deployed as a right midfielder, central midfielder, or right winger.
The Turkish international reportedly has a market value of €45 million to €53 million and stands 176 centimeters tall.
