Turkish international Arda Guler’s long-range goal for Real Madrid against Elche has been named "La Liga EA SPORTS Goal of the Season," after the Spanish league highlighted the strike on its official social media accounts.
Guler scored the goal in the 89th minute of Real Madrid’s 4-1 win over Elche in the 28th week of La Liga, Spain’s top professional football division.
After noticing that Elche goalkeeper Paulo Dituro was positioned high up the pitch, the Turkish midfielder struck the ball from inside his own half. The shot traveled roughly 68 meters before dropping into the net, leaving the goalkeeper unable to get back in time.
The goal sealed Real Madrid’s victory and immediately stood out as one of the most memorable moments of the match.
Real Madrid had built up a strong lead before Guler’s late goal. Antonio Rudiger opened the scoring in the 39th minute, before Federico Valverde doubled the advantage shortly before halftime.
Dean Huijsen then made it 3-0 in the second half, while Elche pulled one goal back in the closing stages after Manuel Ibanez inadvertently sent the ball into his own net.
Guler’s strike in the final minutes rounded off the 4-1 scoreline and later earned official recognition from LaLiga as the best goal of the season.
The award adds another notable moment to Guler’s season with Real Madrid, as the national player’s spectacular finish from near midfield gained attention far beyond the match itself.
His goal also became one of the clearest highlights of Real Madrid’s win, combining quick awareness, technical precision and the confidence to shoot from distance.
