The late-night arrival of Albanian footballer Kristjan Asllani in Istanbul was called off after his flight from Milan was cancelled because of a technical fault, according to a statement issued by Besiktas, the Istanbul-based club currently in transfer talks with the player.
Besiktas said the Turkish Airlines flight carrying Asllani, scheduled as TK1876 from Milan Malpensa Airport to Istanbul Airport, was cancelled after a technical issue was reported.
In its statement, the club noted that a fresh update on the revised arrival plan would be shared once the schedule is set, keeping the focus on confirmed information while the next steps are being lined up.
The cancellation came after Besiktas had previously put out information suggesting Asllani would arrive at 11:40 p.m. at the International Terminal of Istanbul Airport.
However, the aircraft was later unable to take off, with the club attributing the disruption to the same technical fault that ultimately led to the cancellation.
