Barcelona is exploring a move for Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, with young star Lamine Yamal reportedly urging the club to bring in the Nigerian forward, even as the Spanish side considers offloading up to five players to finance the deal.
According to reports, Barcelona has started to look for a short-term attacking solution due to the advancing age and demanding schedule of Robert Lewandowski. Within that context, Yamal is said to have asked the club’s management to pursue Osimhen.
The young winger believes Osimhen’s presence would help draw defensive attention away from him, creating more space in attacking areas. He reportedly sees the Nigerian striker as a player who can open up gaps consistently and make Barcelona’s forward line more productive.
Despite the growing interest, Osimhen’s transfer fee stands out as the biggest hurdle. Reports suggest the striker’s market demand could push his valuation beyond €100 million, exceeding what Barcelona is currently prepared to pay.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray at the start of the season for €75 million and has continued to attract attention across Europe, further driving up his perceived value.
To work around financial constraints, Barcelona is reportedly considering a major squad reshuffle. The plan could involve parting ways with five players to raise funds and reduce wage pressure.
Among the names mentioned is Jules Kounde, whose sale could bring in significant revenue due to strong interest from the Premier League. Ferran Torres is also viewed as a potential departure, as he is seen more as a rotation option than a guaranteed starter.
Midfielder Frenkie de Jong is another key figure in the discussion, with his high salary making him a candidate for both transfer income and wage relief. Younger player Marc Casado could also leave in search of more playing time.
Lewandowski’s situation adds another layer, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season. While no transfer fee may be involved, his departure would significantly ease the club’s wage bill, indirectly supporting a potential Osimhen move.
Osimhen’s performances have played a central role in keeping his name high on transfer lists. Across domestic league and European competition matches this season, he has contributed 26 goals, combining scoring and assists, underlining his impact in the final third.
