Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has been ruled out for approximately one month with a left thigh injury, leaving him unavailable for Sunday's highly anticipated El Clasico against Real Madrid in Spain's La Liga.
The Spanish champions confirmed the injury on Wednesday after the 28-year-old was forced off during Barcelona's 4-2 UEFA Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital on Tuesday.
"Tests have confirmed that Dani Olmo is suffering an injury to his left thigh," Barcelona said in a statement, adding that the Spain international would be sidelined for approximately one month.
Olmo's absence will extend beyond El Clasico, the traditional rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid, with the midfielder also expected to sit out upcoming domestic matches against Alaves and Atletico Madrid.
He is also set to miss Barcelona's Champions League encounter with English club Aston Villa as he continues his recovery.
The injury adds to Olmo's history of fitness setbacks, which have affected the midfielder throughout his career. He joined Barcelona from German club RB Leipzig in 2024.
Olmo's recovery period is also likely to keep him out of Spain's upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against the Czech Republic and England, scheduled for Nov. 12 and 15, respectively.
The midfielder's availability for those international matches will depend on his recovery from the thigh injury.
