Turkish giants Besiktas made a surprise move for Jadon Sancho, initiating contact with Manchester United regarding a potential summer transfer, Turkish media reported on Tuesday.
According to Sozcu, Besiktas officials have inquired about the conditions for a deal involving the 25-year-old England international, whose contract with United expires next year.
Sancho spent last season on loan at Chelsea, making 42 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists. He has also been linked with Fenerbahce in previous transfer windows.
Besiktas, who recently signed Orkun Kokcu, are reportedly looking to bolster their wings with a marquee signing. Club president Serdal Adali is said to have kept the Sancho interest under wraps until talks progressed.
The winger’s current market value is estimated at €28 million ($32.76 million), and it remains to be seen whether Besiktas will opt for a permanent transfer or pursue a loan deal with an option to buy.
