Besiktas were eliminated from the Ziraat Turkish Cup after a 1-0 defeat to TUMOSAN Konyaspor in the semi-final played at Tupras Stadium in Istanbul.
The match remained goalless for the majority of the game, with Besiktas creating several scoring opportunities but failing to convert.
In the first half, El Bilal Toure’s long-range effort struck the crossbar, while Orkun Kokcu also hit the woodwork in the second half.
In the 90+5th minute, the referee awarded a penalty to Konyaspor after an incident in the penalty area.
The decision was confirmed after video assistant referee (VAR) review. Enis Bardhi took the penalty in the 90+8th minute and scored, giving Konyaspor a 1-0 lead.
Besiktas were unable to respond in the remaining minutes of added time, and the match ended with Konyaspor securing qualification to the final.
With this result, Konyaspor reached the Turkish Cup final for the second time in their history. They will face the winner of Trabzonspor or Genclerbirligi in the final.
Besiktas head coach Sergen Yalcin expressed disappointment following his team’s 1-0 defeat, saying the club’s final objective of the season had been missed. He stated that Besiktas controlled the match but failed to take their chances, while the decisive moment came from a late VAR-awarded penalty.
Responding to fans calling for his resignation, Yalcin said he understood the reaction and added, “If our fans want us to leave, we will leave,” while also noting that both the coaching staff and management should share responsibility.
He highlighted squad depth issues and mid-season changes as key challenges in a difficult campaign, stressing that the team must now focus on finishing the remaining league matches.
