Besiktas have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Mohamed Salah and want to complete the Egyptian forward’s medical examination and contract signing at the beginning of next week.

Foot Mercato journalists Santi Aouna and Jordan Pardon reported Friday that the 34-year-old free agent was close to joining the Istanbul club after reaching an agreement over a one-year contract with an option for an additional season.

Under the reported terms, Salah would receive a guaranteed annual salary of €10 million and up to €2 million in bonuses, potentially taking his earnings to €12 million per season.

Transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri separately reported that Salah had given Besiktas the green light and that the club planned to complete the medical checks, signing and remaining transfer procedures at the beginning of next week.

However, Besiktas have not formally announced Salah’s signing.

Besiktas and Salah reach agreement in principle

Foot Mercato reported that Salah had reached an agreement with Besiktas and was expected to join the club as a free agent following the end of his Liverpool career.

The proposed contract would cover one guaranteed season and include an option for a second year.

Salah would earn €10 million in guaranteed annual wages, with another €2 million available through bonuses. Foot Mercato said the forward could officially join the club soon.

Tavolieri also reported that an agreement had been completed and that Salah had approved the move to Besiktas.

According to the report, the Black and Whites want to finalize the transfer through medical examinations and the signing of the contract early next week.

Salah reportedly lowered initial wage demand

Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu reported earlier that Besiktas had submitted their first official offer to Salah.

Salah reportedly requested an annual salary of €15 million during the initial discussions but later reduced his financial expectations to make a move to Besiktas possible.

The player’s lawyer also traveled to Istanbul to continue negotiations with the club and discuss the details of the proposed contract.

The latest reports said the negotiations progressed from the initial offer to a verbal agreement worth €10 million annually, plus €2 million in performance-related bonuses.

Salah available without transfer fee

Besiktas would not be required to pay a transfer fee because Salah is currently without a club.

His Liverpool career ended in the summer of 2026 after nine seasons at the Premier League club. Transfermarkt lists him as a free agent from July 1, 2026.

Liverpool’s official records show Salah represented the club from 2017 to 2026 before leaving at the end of his final campaign.

The free-agent status would allow Besiktas to focus the financial terms of the proposed transfer on Salah’s salary, bonuses and contract conditions.

Besiktas continue major transfer push

Besiktas, managed by Vincenzo Italiano, have accelerated their summer transfer activity after completing the signing of Leandro Trossard from Premier League champion Arsenal.

Trossard signed a three-year contract with an option for an additional season. Besiktas reported that the transfer was worth €18 million, payable in six equal installments over three years.

After adding the Belgian forward, the Black and Whites turned their attention to Salah as they sought another high-profile addition to their attacking line.

Foot Mercato said Salah would be reunited with Trossard, whom he previously faced in the Premier League.

Besiktas supporters call for Salah signing

Besiktas supporters publicly called on the club to sign Salah during Trossard’s presentation ceremony at the stadium.

Fans filled the stands for the Belgian forward’s unveiling but also directed chants toward club President Serdal Adali, asking him to bring Salah to Istanbul.

Supporters repeatedly chanted, “Ya Allah, Bismillah, Mohamed Salah,” during the event.

The moment was also covered by international media as speculation over Salah’s future and Besiktas’ interest intensified.

Salah made 41 appearances for Liverpool during the previous season.

The Egyptian winger scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists across those matches.

Transfermarkt currently values the 34-year-old at €22 million, although Besiktas could sign him without paying a transfer fee because his Liverpool contract has ended.
